Helpful Tips
A few helpful tips will make the process not only easier but will make the scene look a lot better. Call it tricks of the trade. These are things I’ve learned the hard way, usually by trial and error, so you can benefit from my work – and mistakes.

This is the finished winter scene we’re about to make with an icy waterfall and rocky shoreline around a cold, ice-covered Rocky Mountain lake. For demonstration purposes we’ll break it down step by step.
In my mind’s eye it’s inspired by a small lake in Breckenridge, Colorado where they ice skate every winter, though that lake is within the Breckenridge town limits and has no waterfall. Still, that Breckenridge scene left a powerful impression giving credence to the idea, at least to me, scenes can come from all kinds of places.

TIP: Don’t overdo the snow. You can always add more if needed.
