The following pictures are from Bill Rothfuss of western New York State. According to Bill this is his first ever layout. “I am kind of shooting from the hip, with a vision and plan in my mind, but subject to change!” he says.
It started as an L shape but it’s now a big 74 sq. ft. U shape. Right now there are 140 feet of mainline with 2 reverse loops and 3 levels of track elevation, with a few spurs for coal and lumber operations.
“I tried to stick to 1.5 % grade but some areas are at 2% max,” he says. “I am running a digitrax zephyr dcs50 right now, and will add a digitrax super chief, (I got carried away on eBay, it’s more than I need).”
Bill’s running modern era Diesel locomotives. “But, he says, “I’d like to back up in time a bit, after all we are up in the hills!!!”
“I have what I have here,” Bill concludes, “because others shared their knowledge and advice, and you shared your knowledge. Anything I do is a tribute to those before me and I do hope that it all helps others along their way.”
Good job, Bill. Check out his slide show – with more views to come in the future.
